GSLA Celebrates Its One-Year Anniversary

Griffin Strategic Law Advisors is excited to celebrate its one-year anniversary. Founding Member Alais Griffin sent out this message today:

In January 1969, the Beatles put it mildly when they sang from a London rooftop that "Everybody had a hard year." Since 1968, I’m not sure we've had a harder year than this one.

 When I launched Griffin Strategic Law Advisors a year ago, I had some sleepless nights about what lay ahead. Had I known what we were facing, I'm sure I would have had second thoughts about taking that jump.

We have all been relentlessly tested by 2020, but I’m grateful each day that I made this decision. Over the past twelve months, I have built a dream group of clients across the country - exactly the types of businesses and nonprofits I envisioned when I started the firm. I get to work with smart, insightful leaders who are doing incredible work in the nonprofit, transportation, small business, and business spaces. I serve as general counsel for several businesses with complex legal needs and work with talented outside counsel.

In the last year, I moderated a panel at the Transportation Research Board's Annual Meeting in DC and presented at a client's transportation webinar. I provided training and published articles on transportation issues and nonprofit governance and federal grant compliance. The firm has been featured in Crain’s Chicago Business and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. What I loved the most, however, was returning to Northwestern Law School to teach a class of first-year students and to speak on an Asian Pacific American Law Students Association panel about public interest law. The students I met were so engaged and bright, and I think about the impact this pandemic has had on them. I have tried to provide them with some assurance that life will return to a more normal state of affairs, and I certainly hope that is the case for all of us very soon.
